I never “planned” for my life to look like this… but it turned out better than I could have ever imagined.
I’m sitting at an outdoor restaurant in Tulum — sun on my shoulders, a little breeze cutting through the heat, laptop open, and work that actually lights me up. And I just had this moment… like, wow. I didn’t plan for any of this.
- Not the travel.
- Not the freedom.
- Not even the peace.
I used to resist everything people said about healing. I thought I had to hustle through it, or “earn” my clarity, or prove I was strong by staying in control.
But turns out — everything they say about healing is kind of true.
Let’s be real — I wasn’t the journaling type. I was the “triple-shot espresso, answer emails on the train (in the middle of the night), I’d say cry in the bathroom stall but there’s no crying in fashion and get back to work” type. Burnout? Been there. Thought it was normal. (I also did not realize I was having seizures from stress but that’s another story)
Healing is not the same for everyone-and anyone who tells you it is should be taken with a grain of salt.
It doesn’t happen all at once, and it doesn’t always look pretty. But over time, things get softer. Your choices get clearer. And one day you realize you’ve built a life that actually feels good to live in.
So if you’re in a moment where things feel foggy or lost — just know I’ve been there. And you don’t have to force the plan. The path unfolds, even if you don’t see it yet.
If you’re open to it, find an actual sheet of paper and a pen. If one of the below questions resinates with you then start writing and see what happens.
- What’s one thing that’s been feeling heavier than it should lately — can I drop it, even for today? Or even for this moment?
- Am I trying to control something that’s doing its own thing?
- If I had even one hour to myself this week, how would I actually want to spend it? (Not an activity someone else has told you, you should spend it)
- What’s something that totally didn’t go to plan — but lowkey turned out better?
- Where am I putting way too much pressure on myself for no good reason?
