One of the things I’ve learned about myself as an operations manager is that my brain isn’t wired to stay in just one lane. I don’t thrive by repeating the same process day after day. Instead, I find energy in shifting gears — from one task to another, from one industry to the next — and somehow, it never overwhelms me.
Operations is often thought of as “keeping things organized” or “holding everything together,” which is true. But for me, it’s also about adaptability. When you’ve spent years balancing logistics in fashion, construction, and tech, you start to realize that operations is less about what you’re doing and more about how you approach it. The systems, structures, and ways of thinking are transferable everywhere.
And here’s the part I find fun: every new challenge is like a puzzle. Stepping into a new role, a new client, or even a new industry isn’t stressful to me — it’s playful.
I get to take what I already know, adapt it, and then figure out how to make things run more smoothly in a totally different environment. It’s almost like changing the rules of the game, but still knowing how to win.
So while others might see “constant context switching” as chaotic, I see it as freedom. It’s the ability to move fluidly, to connect dots across spaces that don’t usually overlap, and to bring a fresh perspective wherever I land. That’s what makes operations, for me, more than just management. It makes it a creative practice.
